Health and Inequality

From Bloomberg (excerpt):

More Proof That the Richer You Are, the Healthier You'll Be
At every step along the income ladder, higher income means lower prevalence of disease

No matter how much you earn, people who earn more than you are likelier to be healthier and live longer. That's the takeaway from a new report by researchers at the Urban Institute and Virginia Commonwealth University examining the complex links between health, wealth, and income.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that poverty is often associated with poor health. Less obvious: Health and income improve together all the way up the economic pyramid. The wealthiest have fewer illnesses than the upper-middle class, who are in better shape than the lower-middle class, and so on.

The Urban report analyzed a dozen health problems for which the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recorded prevalence by family income. In every case, the rich are better off. With just a few exceptions, there's a steady improvement in health as you climb the income scale...

Just sayin'

  1. Off topic given the boring ennui of inequality with the obvious being tiresomely trundled out day in day out with no practical solutions proffered.

Instead, lets take a potshot at the Singaporkian SB trolls, wandering aimlessly about here for their regular fifty Sing cents fix.

    Go to the link below:

    http://www.smh.com.au/world/the-maths-question-for-singapore-teenagers-that-has-stumped-the-world-20150414-1mki4q.html

Here is the question in full:

"Albert and Bernard just become friends with Cheryl, and they want to know when her birthday is. Cheryl gives them a list of 10 possible dates.

    May 15, May 16, May 19, June 17, June 18, July 14, July 16, August 14, August 15, August 17.

Cheryl then tells Albert and Bernard separately the month and the day of her birthday respectively.

Albert: I don't know when Cheryl's birthday is, but I know that Bernard does not know too.

Bernard: At first I don't know when Cheryl's birthday is, but I know now.

Albert: Then I also know when Cheryl's birthday is.

    So when is Cheryl's birthday?"

    End of Question.

Okay, this Q is from a test paper from a First World country that prides itself on being first rate in everything, money laundering included....hahahaha.

Now look at the "England". Spot the errors.....hahahahahahaha. Enough said.

As for the "stumping" question itself and the answer, I am afraid the less said the better lest everyone dies laughing.

p/s:the actual question is also available for personal viewing on the SMH site as linked above.

  2. Hahahahahaha......good one brother @anon4.22. Talk about standards,meritocracy,incorruptibility...blah blah blah my shit!

I don't pretend that my English is flawless but I really had a whale of a time laughing at the idiots who cannot even string together a proper sentence in English and yet have the cheek to brag about their paid for and over the counter global rankings. I guess that is the only way a pipsqueak can get some attention given the fact its supposedly maths geniuses haven't produced anything of note or even mildly earth shattering .

I was watching the Anne Nicole Smith story last night on HBO and know what she is indeed a consummate practitioner of "naked capitalism" and hers was indeed a "rags to riches" tale, a feat attained by parading her stupendous assets of course. Moral: capitalism opens the door to wealth and riches the straight or sleazy way.

Now take that moral and apply to a whole country that brags about hard work, integrity, transparency blah blah blah while at the same time facilitating tax evaders, corrupt despots, corporate embezzlers, drug overlords, gambling king pins and other sundry thieves, swindlers and conmen to launder their ill gotten riches through its opaque financial system. Capitalism in all its naked glory down south.......

p/s: Wonder where all the fifty cents beggars are hiding in?

  3. @anon 4.22 and @anon 11.33

Here is the culprit for the atrocious English:

By the way, the question is not original, being itself a ripoff of the original,a fact conveniently forgotten to be mentioned throughout the brouhaha.

That's not surprising given that many idiots still think that Singapork was a hobo and mosquito ridden backwater in 1965 when Harry found it abandoned save for a tiny fishing village peopled by emaciated drug addled zombies, raised a port in and subsequently built into SEA's very own money-launderer heaven.

You see such is the inferiority complex of the slit eye arse unwashed devil that everything has to be started from scratch aka rags to riches.....baru ada kick mah hahahaha

Back to the interview, I bet that when that admission of "counterfeiting" was vomited at first time asking, the reporter came back to his senses and beat a hasty exit realising that here was yet another Singaporkian non-story getting more publicity than it ever deserved. Note the lame 3 followup Qs....hahahaha

Imagine the hue and cry from the pig pens if someone from Malaysia had done that ripoff...hypocritical scums indeed !

p/s: By the way, I bet many would be pretty concerned if this idiot is training future teachers with that command of English!! And a "professor"....standards must be pretty bad......hahahahahahahaha
